Board of Directors

 

The following are informative minutes of the November 4, 2004 meeting of the WCA Board of Directors. Please note that these minutes may not cover all of the subjects discussed or motions passed by the board. The portion of the minutes dealing with confidential attorney-client communications, personnel issues, legislative strategies, communications with legislators, communications with government employees, political contribution strategies and specific complaints or information about individual practitioners is considered confidential by the board. WCA members may obtain detailed minutes by contacting the WCA office.

 

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by WCA President Sherry Walker, DC at the WCA building in Madison. Member absent Dr. Bradley.

 

Antitrust Responsibilities

 

The new board members were briefed on their antitrust responsibilities and were given the materials as required by the federal and state antitrust agreements.

 

Election of Officers

 

The board elected the following officers: Jack Masche, DC, Secretary, Wendy Varish, DC , Treasurer, Brouck Sleight, DC Vice-President.

 

Motion: Moved by McMahon, seconded by Sleight to approve the minutes of the September 30, 2004 meeting. Motion carried.

 

The board went into executive session to discuss governmental and budget matters.

 

Cold Laser

 

The board discussed the letter that was written to the examining board requesting that the board clarify the conditions for which cold laser may be used.

 

Sales Tax

 

The board discussed the ruling by the Department of Revenue that definitively ruled that all tangible items, except orthotics manufactured outside a chiropractors office, were subject to sales tax.

 

District Meetings

 

The board reviewed the process the WCA uses to notify members of upcoming district meetings. The board encouraged its district officers to plan district meetings as far as possible in advance of the meeting.

 

CCGPP Update

 

The board reviewed the article written in the Dynamic Chiropractor which indicates that CCGPP is well behind in the production of the first set of standards to be produced by this committee.

 

Motion: Moved by Bronston, seconded by Sleight to approve the 2005 budget. Motion carried.

 

The board adjourned approximately 2:15 p.m.
