The following are informative minutes of the February 8, 2007 meeting of the WCA Board of Directors. Please note that these minutes may not cover all of the subjects discussed or motions passed by the board. The portion of the minutes dealing with confidential attorney-client communications, personnel issues, legislative strategies, communications with legislators, communications with government employees, political contribution strategies and specific complaints or information about individual practitioners is considered confidential by the board. Board of Directors

February 8, 2007

Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by WCA President Sherry Walker, DC at the WCA building in Madison. Absent: Dr. Douglas

 

Motion: Moved by Bronston, seconded by Varish to approve the minutes of the December 7, 2006 meeting. Motion carried.

 

Nutrition

 

The board discussed the position taken by the chiropractic examining board that multi-level marketing is absolutely not allowed by chiropractors and re-affirmed that no nutrition duties may be delegated to a chiropractic assistant or other person.

 

CCGPP

 

The board reviewed a plan prepared by staff for COCSA to be used when the next draft of the CCGPP document is released.

 

COCSA

 

At the request of COCSA, staff prepared an action plan that would result in chiropractors being paid for all services provided to Medicare patients. The board reviewed and commented on this plan.

 

Motion: Moved by Bronston, seconded by McMahon to approve sending the Medicare Equality Initiative to COCSA. Motion carried.

 

Boot Camp

 

The board reviewed a proposal to offer an intensive training program for new doctors.

 

Motion: Moved by McMahon, seconded by Bronston to approve the WCA Boot Camp proposal. Motion carried.

 

Wisconsin Chiropractor Editorial Policy

 

The board decided to publish the names of chiropractors in the Wisconsin Chiropractor only if the chiropractor has been convicted of a criminal offense. The Wisconsin Chiropractor will continue to publish disciplinary decisions by the examining board and will provide a web address if a member would like additional information about the individual or the circumstances of the discipline.

 

Public Awareness

 

The board discussed a proposal to involve district societies in public awareness activities. This discussion will be continued at its March meeting.
