The following are informative minutes of the March 3, 2005 meeting of the WCA Board of Directors. Please note that these minutes may not cover all of the subjects discussed or motions passed by the board. The portion of the minutes dealing with confidential attorney-client communications, personnel issues, legislative strategies, communications with legislators, communications with government employees, political contribution strategies and specific complaints or information about individual practitioners is considered confidential by the board. WCA members may obtain detailed minutes by contacting the WCA office.

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m. by WCA President Sherry Walker, DC at the WCA building in Madison. Member absent Dr. Bronston.

 

Motion: Moved by McMahon, seconded by Sleight to approve the minutes of the February 3, 2005 meeting as corrected. Motion carried.

 

Dr. Walker noted that Brouck Sleight, DC had resigned from the board for personal reasons. Dr. Bradley will coordinate with the Northcentral district officers to hold an election to replace Dr. Sleight.

 

Financial Report

 

The staff requested help from the board in location a patient who would be willing to give a motivational speech for approximately 20 minutes at the Saturday Spring Convention lunch.

 

Motion: Moved by Adams, seconded by Douglas to approve the financial report. Motion carried.

 

Workers Compensation

 

The board was given a detailed briefing by the executive director on the status of the negotiations in the Cost Containment Committee of the WCAC. The board re-affirmed its absolute commitment to rejecting any proposal that did not allow chiropractors to provide the highest quality care for their patients or that did not treat chiropractors in the same manner as other health care providers. The board was urged to encourage members to read the special issue of the March Wisconsin Chiropractor which focuses on the issues being debated by this committee.

 

Credential Dates

 

The board discussed that the date for license renewal in future years would be December 15th of even numbered years – two weeks earlier than in the past.

 

Government Affairs Agenda

 

The board completed work on its legislative agenda and requested that the executive director have the WCA lobbyist begin seeking a sponsor for the legislation.

 

The meeting adjourned approximately 3:15 p.m.
