Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 am by WCA President Wendy Varish, DC at the WCA building in Madison. Member absent: Dr. Moolla.

 

CHIEF

 

The board reviewed the creation of CHIEF and all of its related activities.

 

Moved by Krimpelbein, seconded by Bronston to move into executive session. Motion carried.

 

Medica/UHC/ACN

 

Motion: Moved by Church, seconded by Lefler to move forward with a request for the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and/or the Department of Justice to intervene in the Medica/UHC/ACN complaint. Motion carried.

 

Legislation

 

The board reviewed four proposed pieces of legislation and discussed the efforts of the WCA to insure that chiropractic interests were protected under each piece of legislation.

 

Practice Management

 

The board reviewed a complaint received on the operations of Healthsource.

 

St Norbert’s College Survey

 

St. Norbert’s College did a survey approximately five years ago which retains its relevance. The board reviewed the results of that survey as it pertains to potential image and treatment problems in the chiropractic profession.

 

Nutritional Advertising

 

The board reviewed complaints related to the advertising of nutritional counseling. The problem will once again be addressed in the April edition of the Wisconsin Chiropractor and at the special district meetings that will be held throughout the state in March and April.

 

Ingenix

 

The board reviewed a lawsuit filed by the state of New York over the accuracy of the Ingenix database. The WCA intends to solicit data from our members in order to determine if a similar problem exists in the database certified by the state for use in worker’s compensation.
